Nice one Tom! I have Uravich's plans for his Cessna 195 and plan on making it my next high wing if I ever get to it.

Speaking of Luscombes and corrugations......

Here's a1/4 scale Luscombe aileron I built years ago to see how it would work out. Never did build the rest of the airplane!

It has a balsa spar and ribs with the skins made from polished litho plate. I made a simple press to make the currugations and it worked out really well. The rivets are embossed into the skins with a simple tool I made from a pair of needle nose pliers.

It's tedious but effective as well as being light and stiff.

Cheers,
Nigel

I remember that project. I think Don Olsen ran with your idea, doing something very similar, on his 100" WACO.

Being lazy, I'll probably use corrigation from http://parkflyerplastics.com/cart/in...roducts_id=629

On my Cessna 195, I made them frok Plastistuct "V" channel. It was a lot of work, and the plastic added a lot of weight.

Go for it, Mike ! The 195 is my favorite Cessna.

Most likely, the 195 will build tail heavy. You may want to keep everything as far forward as possible.

The Top Flite Cessna 182 uses plastic corrugation strips cut to length and glued to the surface to flaps to give it the correct appearance but the kit 1/5th scale so 1/4 scale may not look as good.

Of course, the Cessna CR-2 and CR-3 racers were pretty wonderful airplanes too!

The 195 was based on the 165 but was a little bigger due to the 42" radial and was their first all metal airplane. The 190/19e could be considered the transitional airplane between pre-WWII and post WWII production designs. It had a foot in both camps.

Geez. I guess that I got to this one before you did. LOL

An IKON kit found me, a few years back. I built it after I built my 195.

Very nice Nigel! Probably can't get much closer to looking like the real thing. I'll have to try that next time around. For the WACO I used a grooved aluminum plate to lay up corrugated fiberglass skins. Had to make 3 or 4 to get one good one and I needed 8 of them on the WACO. Any chance you described the method in a build somewhere?

Dave Platt Waco YMF-3, Sig Ryan ST, Top Flite DC-3, Hostetler C-195, Fairchild 24. There are a few more kits/plans in there that I can't recall off the top of my head. Yep. I'm stuck in the past. Sign me up!

Tony,
No, I haven't documented the process I'm afraid. I can do some sketches at some point when I get a chance, but at the moment I'm in the middle of home renovations, so zero modeling is going on right now!

Cheers,
Nigel

I would have helped sooner, but I had to figure out how to add a new member without typing out the whole list. Once the brain fart passed, it was a simple task to add EJ.

I think that I've been breathing too many paint and CA fumes.

I mounted the engine on my Luscombe Silvaire this afternoon.

I really don't have much completed on the model, but it was time to get the motor mounted. Now, I can seal up the front end.
