Jetlegend Yak 130
Well I am a veryhappy Bunny today
Late last year I heard about the proposed model of a Yak 130 from Jetlegend, I quickly contacted Jeff at Zedjet to get the low-down.
After Chatting with Jefffor an hour or so I decided that I would like the twin version and placed an order blind with out evan seeing the kit .
I wasgiven a ball-park price of $5000+$700 for shipping but was told the first few kits orderd would have a few extra goodys included.
Having had several JL kits in the past I was confident it would be well built and the price fair as each kit ive had sofarhas been evan better than the last.
Well I'm now over the moon, It arrived today a little earlier than expected in a single "HUGE" and very strong ply lined box safe and sound.
Over the next few hours and days and prob weeks I will be working my way through the various parts and let you all have pics with weights and sizes.
Just for starters here is a pic of the box it came in to give an idea of its size, "It did not come with the Tx by the way thats just for an idear of scale"

Well I've spent some time unpacking the Yak and inspecting for any transit damage, its all OK
Its all a bit overwhelming and its taking quite a bit of time, this thing is huge!
Ive put the two fuz half's together only to find I was then trapped in my hallway
Ive now moved it all to my workshopand will weigh and size up then photograph the individual parts.

First impressions are very promising, the surface detail is on par with my old 100" Comp ARF Mustang P51 giving it a very authentic finish.
The ply and carbon formers are cut and fitted very neatly and the fittings supplied are of a high quality and very robust.
The weight of the individual components is surprising low and I feel its going to have a low overall weight for such a large airframe.
The UC is a work of art and looks very robust, pics to follow.
I have two options for Turbines depending on both overall weight and how they affect the CG possibly forcing the use of exsesiv nose weight
If weight distribution allows 2X Spark T12 turbines at 1500g each or 2X 100 size ether Wren or Jetmunt turbines at just 2Kg for the pair
As soon as the weather clears ill pop it out side in the yard then loosely assemble it to see how much they might effect to CG and make a choice.
Mean wile here are some pics of the "optional " cockpit tub to wet your appetites
Size is W=218xH=290xL=840

Here is one of the Yaks Tailplane's
Ihope the surface detail shows up in the pics, if not ill wait for a brighter day and use a better camera than the one on my phone

The pivot is hollow, 13.5mm dia and fits into a duel bearing fitting in the fuz that's secured to a carbon/ply former.
There is a single arm actuator and a carbon mount for a single servo to each elevator half.
I belive the WJM Rusjet Yak 130 used two JR 8711 servos on the tailplane with I think a common pivot giving a fixed tail IE no tailarons
The two tailplane half's are separate on this JL Yak andare quit large, I'm thinking I would prefer an evan more torky servo?
Size = 450x580mm
Wieght 433g

Fin and Rudder
Again the surface detail is stunning, its light in weight yet very stiff.
Its supported on two 14mm hollow carbon tubes built into the fin and secured to the fuz with two socket and clamp assembly's.
The rudder is factory fitted on 4x "alloy" hinges and driven by aninternal tork tube assembly from a servo to be installed in the base of the rudder itself.
On mine there is the optional pre fitted light to the top rear of the fin, its pre wired and has a two pin JST connector at the base of the fin.
The rudder itself is 190mm wide at the base and is 600mm tall! One25kg JR 8711 servo should cope "I hope"
Its very likely the fin on an airframe this size will need to be removed for transport, just having two clamps and a servo lead makes this a very easy task.
Size W= 650mm x H= 710mm
Weight = 685g

RE: Jetlegend Yak 130
I got mine delivered last week - a single engine version. I thought I'd bitten off more than I could chew considering the size but I am happy now It is very nice indeed and quite light too. It has some lovely details and is very well thought out. I had to slightly modify the tail pipe exit former on mine as the pipe was slightly too narrow and the outer cooling tube was being deformed. No dramas though and a very easy fix. I'm going to start with the fuselage first but I'll let Mark go through his build and I'll chime in with the differences on the single.

RE: Jetlegend Yak 130
Wings and flaps
The scale surface detail continues onto the wings and sets them apart from run of the mill ARTF jets
Again they are very stiff yet light and come with the ailerons pre hinged to the top surface allowing a concealed linkage below.
The ailerons are inset and are fairly bigat 150mm at the root tapering to 75mm at the tip and 450mm long.
I'm going to fit a JR 8511 under the pre cut and fitted hatch, there is no built in mount but the usual alloy "T" mounts are provided.
The flaps are quite large and have a pair of full cantilever hinges with and an inner Fowler flap, they are 200x465mm opening out a further 35mm
Again there setup for a fully internal linkage on a tork tube to both carbon hinge mechanisms, they are very Strong and give a smooth movement.
The wings are supported on a 1135mm long x 38mm diaalloy tube extending 260mm into each wing.
Wings are retained by a socket and clamp in the fuz by its 13mm carbon anti rotation dowel to the rear.
There is is a second carbon locating dowel at the front, Recommended CG is marked at 135mm back from the LE would strike the fuz
You could say its 120mm forward from the centre of the wing tube "same difference" there is noticeable washout built in but not as much as say an F15.
Size W = 740 x L = 900mm
Weight = 955g + flap @ 210g

Hi Mark S
The flap hinges are coverd withtwo mouldings that fold into each other front and rear, give me a few minuets and i will see if i can find them and take a pic
Regards Mark V
Here you go
They arement to be fixed with screws around the flange but I may well trim them back then glue them on ill see how it looks asI go through the build
Just 70g for all 4 sets.
If any one wants a pic of anythin inparticular please feel free to ask

RE: Jetlegend Yak 130
Well I've had enough for today, its 10pm here in the UK and I've played with the Yak all day, Ive now been able to reach a decision regarding which turbines to use
I can easily afford "weight wise" to go for the 2x Spark T12 turbines and have placed an order with Jeff at Zedjet for one to make up a pair with the one I already have.
I have a projected dry weight of around 19Kg so the 2x 27lbs thrust should give me a good reserve and relaxed cruse with it hopefully at around about half stick.
Im sure that any good 160 turbine will be more than enough if your building the singel version and Jeff will no doubt keep us up to date with his Yak build.

More pics of the parts over the next few days and then its down to some actual assembly and will let every one know how I get on and of course more pics!
