Elite Aerosport Rebel Pro Build
Hey guys and gals its that time again, pulled the trigger on one of these and amazing enough it was in-stock so this one will be here very soon. (i know shocking, didn't know what to do with myself with out a six month wait )
I have everything for this so it should be a real quick build, I am using everything from my Avanti XXL. I was a little worried about putting a P200 in it but I was told it can handle it just fine. I will be doing the videos as well uploading them to my youtube channel here --------> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCE_...BAxA8bHVCw3VQQ If you have subscribers you know they are like minions who must be kept entertained.
I watched Pablo fly this thing at two events and the Scott Harris fly at GA jets and it just grew on me so I figured why not, this is a good filler until the next scale jet project in the spring. If anyone that has one would like to throw in some tips for hits feel free! Also it would really be helpful if anyone has the Xicoy measurements for this jet so I can add them to my database found here ----------->http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/glob...surements.html
Equipment: P200, Futaba battery backer(Full SBus) Hi-flow UAT/Tubing/Clunks, Futaba HV SBus servos, IGyro/WGPS and a GPS on the Receivers dual receivers for telemetry. Cheers!

I have a couple of questions for anyone that has built this jet, What exactly comes with the kit? Does it have air tanks or anything like that for the air system? Im not to worried about the fuel stuff since I add high flow stuff. Mainly just wondering what hardware come with it. Thanks

Keith,
Well after a really bad day at the flying field on Sunday, I now have space available in my garage. I will be getting started on my Rebel Pro by the end this week.
Unless I missed something, the hardware package is very basic with only a few screws, some ply and fiberglass pieces. The main fuel cell is also with the plane. There are no air tanks, air valves, or air cylinders that I found in the box with my model. I did order the landing gear set with my model, no valves and air tanks were included.

Hey Fender, as far as my understanding goes you can only get Electric retracts brakes for the rebel pro.
It works flawlessly, 10 times beter then air. You will love this bird
What color scheme did you choose?
Thanks

Cost is why, I used to be all about electric but it does increase cost and electric gear are still going through growing pains. gear conversion and brakes $1000 extra normally.

Small update, looks like my jets about to ship and Scott will be sending the elite aerosport retracts soon as well. I received the instruction manual in my last emails and it looks like a nice project! It has a bit more work than the chinese ARFs but I like that. Gluing in the nose gear mounts and cutting the hatches/gear openings are the biggest things. They provided templates but since the instructions are image files im not sure how the print size will be for actual. Easy to work around, just a note for future builders. The canopy lock rod and the rudder front pin rod are the only two place I was left scratching my head about after looking through it a few times. I may opt for two finger twist knobs to secure the canopy like you do on RC heli canopies. I am consider cutting the nose gear to a nose door style and making the piece I cut out an actual door with a small servo to open it. I used servos on the Avanti and they worked perfect, not needed just pondering it. Cheers

I have the 2 rods on my Rebel Pro and my first thought was that they would not hold up, But after 75 flights, I have had no issues plus I like that I do not need any tools to take hatch on/off. I plan on putting the same system on a Pro that I am building at present for a friend, but it will be interesting to see what you come up with on your project. Enjoy your build.

I was thinking about this today and considered asking if a simple canopy latch would work? Something that glues into the canopy and has simple spring on it for the release. Only thing you would see is the little arm on each side of the canopy, you pull back the pin out of the locking hole and lift the back up. Same principle as the stock rods. I'm like you trying to avoid a tool requirement, just would hate to blow the top off

Congrats, I like the size of this jet as well. Mine should be here next week with any luck next weekend will be build time! Less than month, that's a first for a wait time for delivery.

Got the gear today from Scott among a few other goodies. The look very robust and well made, I also had some 4mm line and one of the new JMP tanks with a 4mm attachment. One other thing but thats a secret I also received a few items from Dreamworks today as well. Among the items a JMP hi-flow two-way valve with 4mm fittings and one of the interairco hi-flow UATs. Its a little more weight than my typical MAP hi-flow but I wanted this jet to be super simple and easy to keep an eye on things for preventative maintenance. So a clear UAT was a nice touch, plus I just wanted to give one a try! I need to measure to verify but it looks like the same size fittings as the MAP UAT. I do like how the fill port is on the bottom and allows for the UAT to be emptied without doing some jet flip action.
I will get some pictures tomorrow, im sitting here on FOD duty tonight so I will not be home till tomorrow, yeah go Army! LOL

Alright everybody its about that time again so to kick this off I wanted to show some of the new things in the shop this time around. Plus im just bored the jet will be here in a few days and I have everything to complete the jet so no delays once started!!! Also I would like to say this is my 6th jet and has completely been a different story on ordering and customer service. Every model I have bought prior to this has not been an easy one, always something that has made me wish I would have never gotten into jets. I was so excited to order something and have it get here within a couple of weeks, not to mention Scott and Pablo are fantastic to work with. Its really nice to have someone who updates you on things without having to inquire and wait for answers. So thanks to those guys!
I am posting the video going over the equipment and bling bling now so enjoy and stay tuned!!! Hoping to make this a quick build since I really want to get this thing in the air before the harsh winter hits.
Cheers and Happy dont eat to much of your kids candy day!!
