Engine Drive Flange Magnet Upgrade
I see the step-by-step instructions, thanks! It would be great to see short video of the process :-)
Hello everyone , for a year and so I had those prop drives made and never lested on the site.I sold them on call based orders.
We have the prop drives that are designed to solve ALL the timing issues. The Over Timed issue and between the Cylinders in all series FG19-FG33_FG60 and FG84/90. The FG73 is just over timed. The timing between cylinders is correct..
You can find all on the CH Site.

One more: first flight of a Top Flite FW190A with an FG-60R3.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_MYY0NlbQY Prop is an APC 22x10 with a top end of 6,800. Mix was 1:20, using Castrol Synthetic. The engine tuned easily (6.5 turns out on the low and ~2.5 turns out on the High) and Ran like clockwork.
The on-board telemetry sensors for temps (1 per cylinder) showed only a deviation of <2degrees C on the ground (idle) and in flight for (mid-range)..! Seems like the careful running-in (see previous posts) paid dividents.. Temp range was between 80-90C on the ground.
Note: readings are taken between the fins just below the spark plug, on the rear side (to avoid speed/cooling effect of oncoming airflow). In reality, CHTs will be 30-40C higher on near the top of the combustion chamber.
A +20C difference between Nos 2&3 and No.1 (top cylinder) was recorder after prolonged mid/high throttle settings in the air. This was expected due to the relief airflow arrangement in the cowl (louvres only on the bottom side for scale reasons suck more cooling air around the bottom cylinders...).
A Happy customer!

Fa 170 r3 ?
Hi ...
I am new to this thread and trying to understand if I got my self a big problem or not ?
Have e nib engine and have ordered a Morris mini motor ignition.
Reading posts here (not all) and getting increasingly confused cause my engine is new and I honestly hoped
it was a good engine.. I also noticed that Morris mini motor are selling a modified intake manifold (very expensive)
Is it possible to do modifications on the original manifold ?
Regards//R

I have several of these triples and so do my flying buddies. Maybe a general Saito radial thread would be a better option for those of us with a wider range of Saito interests.

I didn't realize you were asking about another engine if its a recently introduced (I hadn't noticed) engine maybe they have addressed the issues that have plagued the 160 engines.
When you get your timing kit before you take anything apart, determine what the factory timing is set to if its about 28 degrees it is safe as not too early and
I wouldn't change anything. Run it like its a properly set up engine from the factory and have fun report back any issues.

I haven't had any issues with mine. And haven't seen a failure of any at our field.
I feel most of that was a result of a disgruntled owner with too much money that bought a lemon used and besmirched the line of perfectly acceptable engines when it failed catastrophically.
Options made by others may have been improvements and we're accepted by Saito eventually. But overall I have a high opinion of the Saito offerings in radial designs.

Start one Rokit. Maybe on the R450 too. Folks that watch this Saito thread are very specific.

As soon as my ignition arrives I will start to mount it on and do some tuning.. Will post the results.
The advice from Morris mini motors is 30dg from tdc, I suppose that 28-32 will be ok to "play" with ?

Midrange issue
Hi guys, i am having midrange issues with my 60r3. I ran this motor in and it seemed to run fine in the gsrage. Took it to the field yesterday and couldnt get it to run in half throttle. Runs fine at idle and full speed but wants to die at half. Fuel draw is no problem, reset low end needle to suggested 6 turns out.
any suggestions? This is a newly purchased motor.
