It has a great, clean midrange. I didn't expect 10 +.

Ignore picture #2, it's a different engine.
EDITED> hey Dave,,,,,, that 10,200... that is just what my OS smelly 61 fx 2st turned an APC 12x6 at. muffler was the old Slimline pitts.. so them there numbers are some good numbers for a .50 size 4st engine !! and bad numbers for my 61 fx... that I don't have any more LOL

Just some numbers for fun.

Dave's Saito fa50: 12x6 @ 10200 = .95 hp,
Jim's OS 61 fx w/ slimline pitts: 12x6 @ 12200 = 1.63 hp
My Evolution 61nx w/ jetstream muffler: 11x6 @ 14750 = 2.03 hp

All excellent numbers

More for fun, a lot of guys who knew more than the mfr, screamed loudly about the 14 x 6 recommendation. But if you tried a 15 x 8 it would protest mightily by knocking like a Mack 711. Also 10% was the max nitro methane or again it would get cranky. The ABITAR 120

Conley/Abitar 1.20 4 stroke: 14x6 @ 12180 = 2.999 hp

WOW! Is that for real?

That is for real, the Conley was about 150 rpm less powerful, perhaps due to the longish intake tract.

Saito 56, scrounged parts and poorly painted crankcase. When I first fired this up it was difficult to start, LS needle too lean. Then it would only rev to 9,850. I had some awe shhh thoughts, but I ran it at about 6,500 for 30 more minutes and voila, it turned 10,410. I think 10,600 is in there some where. It wears chrome rocker covers, I am out of gold.

A little different style rear facing vent, just for fun.

I noticed on Saito's company website the chrome ones are changing too due to availability of sub contractors. The new covers appear to have the chrome plating missing and a slightly rougher looking finish.

10410 rpm on an apc 12x6 is 1.01hp, already more powerful than the three 56's I've owned.
To reach 10600 would only take an additional .057 hp but that's more than it sounds like with engines this small.

sorry guys, I had to edit above, the number I typed was wrong, ,,, my 61fx only turned 10,200 with the Slimline pitts burning 10% nitro. , the same as Dave's Saito 50. not very impressive for OS.

Maybe they're going back the early dull finish look.

My mistake, it is an early 50 with the not so shiny rocker covers.

If any of you would like to try the Glo-Devil 4 c plugs, they now have PayPal, the picture for the SoT 302 is in error. Shown is the correct picture.
