Discussion: Antenna position
#126
I used to do this making it go to idle (turbine ready) in one or two jumps. But with the kill/idle switch I just flip the locking switch from off to "ready" and you can use the trim buttons for something else.

Is anyone using the one step on the throttle trim, I just watched Harry C's vid on it, this is more or less what I was using on my Futaba throttle trim, this step will adjust the trim on the Futaba transmitters from 4 to 40, meaning, the digital trim will go from zero to 100% in 4 jumps, very convenient.
I use a cross-trim setup (throttle/nose steer on the right, ail/elve on the left), and a two-step throttle trim for my turbine on/off. It allows me to quickly shut down the engine if I need to, but also highly unlikely to be accidentally bumped off. It also frees up a switch elsewhere. I do use a locking switch for RX on/off and like Jamie and Gary, I love that feature.
Lots of ways to accomplish things on this radio and set up to suit your own preference. Congrats on making a great purchase!

How did a post on antenna positioning turn into jeti and JR commercials and jeti instruction manual? Nice info, but way off-topic! Can't believe a moderator did not pick up on this.

Lua is some kind of programming language that smart guys use to make computer stuff easy to use for dumb guys like me. I use the Digitech CTU Lua for turbine telemetry, Dave's Speed Announcer and Drag Chute Lua for speed call outs and drag chute. There are lots more but you would have to get someone smarter than me to explain.
I also use cross trims like Craig mentioned plus I use the "Trim Hats" from Grumania instead of the buttons. It makes trimming very easy like using a small 2 way stick and is very easy for me to feel and use as I fly with the other hand.

Ehem! Way ahead of you on that LT, I needed help, I'm getting it, what Raffy said, it is obvious that this is a much needed topic according to the amount of views till now, enough said.
Here is a question for you LT, do you prefer a single receiver or multiple receivers on your radio install? How about, when was the last time you had a failsafe shutoff while flying? What did you learn about it?
Here is a safety question as I see it for everyone, do you carry your cell phone to the flight line or do you leave in your tool box? I prefer not have to it with me when I'm flying my jets or any of my airplanes BUT, I have it with me for safety reasons when I'm alone at the field which may happens from time to time, I'm not sure if the phone's RF could blank some of the radio's signal.
Tks

Like you Craig, I like the two steps trottle trim but, I'm willing to change if I see the need for it, I will also be limited on the switches, for this reason I'm thinking of eliminating the Elv and Rudd, low rate switch, lately I've been flying at high rate on those chls but will keep the low rate on the Ail chl, I think I will give the wireless on/off switch a try on my next new build.
Tks.

On the subject of cell phones on the flight line, when I remember to, I take it out of my pocket and leave it on the bench. I would say I forget to do that far more times than I remember. I also have my Apple Watch with cellular on almost every time. I haven’t noticed any issues with JR or Jeti. I like to leave the phone in the table so it doesn’t ring in my pocket and distract me.
My 35% 3D plane, two receivers, 3 if you count the one for the remote switch. CB200, R3, R3, R3.
My T1 Mini, single REX12A
My 91” Laser, single REX10
My Ultrasport 46, single RX7
My T1 (which arrived yesterday!!! YAY!!) is getting CB210, REX7 Assist, R3 backup and R3 remote switch. And a gps sensor, and I think Jeti LiIon’s for RX power.

I Always do 2 receivers on the jets even the small one a R3 doesn't cost or take a lot os space....now days the second one is always the R3 900, primary I pretty much used the R12 REX......on bigger jet where i have more money involve I go 3x RX's one will be 900
Mini T-1 Rex 12 and a R3 plus an R3 for Switch.....
T-1 CB200 2x RX 2.4 and R3 switch
Havoc SS CB220, REX12, R3, R3 900 plus R3 Switch
ect.......

For Rx antenna placement the Jeti allows you to see receiver reception quality in real time. While doing a range check you can immediately see if you need to move things around.
Because all the telemetry can be recorded you can review your flights later either on the Tx or via Jeti Studio. To tell the truth I didn't bother much with telemetry logs as everything just worked. But lately I've been having a good time in Jeti Studio reviewing flights, some from years ago. I've been comparing Rx reception of the same plane at different flying sites, very interesting. Also looking at things like voltage spikes or where the elevator stick was when the jet pulled 9 Gs. With a GPS sensor I'll be able to compare the data with the location of the plane using Google Earth, cool stuff.

Now that I'm going to be flying with a different new system to me, I want know it all, why reinvent the wheel? as I understand, RCU is to help and get help from each other, I've done that as much as I can and I'm asking for help now, I've been helping members for the past..........mmmmm, let's see, 2002 ah sí, 18 years, I've done multiple build threads, testing and more and will continue doing so, I'm about to start a Xcalibur Blue Angels scheme build here soon.
Like Nick said "fun thread because it talks about everything"
To all that have made this thread fun, thank you, now, continue plz
LOL!

I got this jet today, not mine but, it may as well be mine, I get to build it, install whatever I want and I get to do the fun part, maiden it and then fly it some more, how much fun is that going to be? Hey!
I got all the components, jet kit, landing gear ( prolink ) wheels and brakes, servos, receiver ( spectrum 12 Chl ) switches, new P60 turbine.
Now, this is what I'm thinking, fly it with my new system, I want to install ( now showing off what I've learned from all of you guys ) a Rex 12 assist receiver, R3 satellite receiver + R3 remote switch, I would prefer the R3 REX 900mhz NG instead of the R3 remote but it is not out yet.

The R3 switch with a single REX12 mean you need a Jeti switch they are available for either 1 or 2 RX battery(s)
I can either way for the second receiver, I would go R3 900NG if they become available...for this small model....since need I think 10 chan....you could do both

Still not so clear about how to gang all this Receivers but, I think you are saying, for the small models use a REX12 with a R3 wireless switch then add a R3 900khz when they become available and I will be using two LIFE 1700 packs since the R3 switch is not a regulator, right?
Right master Joda? LOL!

I like that idea, it goes along the lines of what I was thinking.
I think I will be using a REX12 Assist and R3 second receiver for this Xcalibur, that's where I will stop, then I tranfer that to my Boomerang XL and fly it like that, once the R3 900mhz is available the will add that to the Boomer, that's how it's going to go.
cool!

It can also run 1x 900ng RX, but they are not available yet.....
The R3 Switch doesn’t do nothing connected to the RX’s, it’s made to be connected to either a CB’s (200,210,220,400) and any of the Jeti switch replacing the magnetic gizmo....
