HobbyZone Aeroscout 1.1m fast & erratic control surface movement?
Happy Easter, ladies & gents!
I maidened my Aeroscout on Wednesday 4/8 with new Spektrum 2200 mah Smart batteries since this is one of HH SMART Planes. I made three successful flights that day. No issues at all. I do not remember the beginning voltage prior to flight, but I had plenty for a total about 20-mikes on just one of the batteries before I had to leave the field. I charged all my 2200’s (Turnigy, Spektrum, E-flite & Venom) that night to 4.1v & went to the field again the next day with some of my other planes. Upon plugging in the battery on the Aeroscout & now there was audible “surging”or buzzing type sound & all the control surfaces moved up & down left & right very quickly & erratically all on their own. No change no matter how much I articulated the sticks on my Dx9. I tried all of my 2200’s in this plane. All resulted in the same issue.
There was also no throttle response anywhere regardless of throttle stick movement articulation. Anyone else had this issue with any type of company brand, servos or tx after charging batteries following a normal flight regardless of plane? Can anyone offer their opinion on what might be wrong? I would check again but my tx battery is dead. These are all Spektrum servos. Batteries over charged & perhaps fried my esc or motor? I’m storage moding then now in case they needed to be of lower voltage. Thanks. 🤬

If the batteries are appropriate to the plane, they can't possibly have ruined your electronics. BTW, never fly a plane without a fully charged battery.
It sounds like your receiver lost bind to the transmitter. When there is no signal, servos will sometimes twitch in response to whatever stray radio signal their wires pick up.
Try rebinding your receiver. If that fixes it, I'd call HH to ask for a replacement because receivers should not lose bind on their own. I've heard of Spektrum receivers doing it a number of times though.

Thanks for your comment, Jester. It was a bad ESC as I found out this morning. HH sent me a new ESC that I received yesterday. Got everything switched out today & the plane works like a charm again. It's frustrating, though, as I'm sure you & almost everyone else knows. I didn't have to pay for the fix & at least I it did not freak out in the air. Things wouldn't have been so easy after that. Stay safe!

Horizon Hobby's Customer Service USED TO BE the best in the world. They are still selling their products left and right, but they've castrated their Customer Service. Chat often is not available anymore. Emails go unanswered for weeks. Phone calls go unanswered for 20 minutes. I'm guessing their service will come back, but right now, in May and June, 2020, it is HORRIBLE!
