I had all my customers add a flat plate under the gyro shelf. The size and shape varies with the install, that’s why CARF don’t add one in the factory, it’s much easier to put the cutouts for grommet holes in the glass and just have the plate from one side to the other and where (in all our cases) the Powerbox Mercury is screwed down a vertical former is not needed as such.

The vertical former strengthen up the entire structure. I own 7 separate turbines and none of them have such a large span from the turbine to the nose support without a former. While hunting down my issues several other pilots commented on the flexibility of the top plate and how much side to side movement the fuse had. The former solved both of those. Is it required? No. Did it help? Immensely.

That former looks good but what a pattern to make! Do you use the stock fuel tank?

Put the top on,.,as it flies and it’s super stiff. CARF know what they are doing, probably unlike the other examples you are thinking about.

The former was actually fairly easy to make. I just use a piece of cardboard to make a template and traced it onto a piece of light ply. Then cut it out with a jigsaw. Took maybe 30 minutes to make the pattern and test fit a few times. Yes, I use the stock tank. And for the record, one of the Carf reps at the event I recently attended was one of the individuals helping with my resonance issue and he was the one that suggested that I add the former. The Carf guys were awesome and a big help.

I just ordered the Rebel 2m, very excited, plan to use either 120 or 140 in it. I have 3 Swiwin motors in my other jets but thinking to give Kingtech a try. What servos are you guys using?

I am using Promodeler servos, DS630BLHV.
They have 630 oz-in torque, high voltage and brushless. Checks all my requirements. But, note they didn't come with the servo arms and I had to order them separately.

Thanks Desertlakesflying! I'm thinking to use Promodeler DS505BLHV on ailerons & elevators and use DS360DLHV on rudder & flaps.

I just got my Rebel 2m and it looks fantastic! How do I remove the canopy? I don't see any release levers.

There is a pin in the nose, pull it out an inch or so.

I think the stock UAT will be okay with the 142. It looks very similar to the MAP 4oz.

It’s nothing like inside. Still works OK. But I would still invest the small $ required for a MAP unit.

Guys, thanks for your input/suggestions! So far, I have been flying HSD PNP foam jets and they all come with pre-installed UAT, simple UAT, but works well.

I searched for MAP and found this MAP High Flow 4 oz UAT. Descriptions says :"Will work well on turbines up to 20 lbs of thrust" I think K-142 generates 31 lbs. I'm guessing it should work ok?

We use the Hi-Flow MAP up to 220N so wrong description! The Std 4oz MAP it’s what all the Rebels around here fly with. I recommend the std MAP up to 160N out side pump. 100N internal pump.
Obviously the Hi-Flow has no down side except tubing fit on any turbine.

Should the MAP set flat in the aircraft, so that the central line of the tank is parallel with the neutral axis of the airplane.
I see many with the MAP tilted up a bit, Seems like that is good unless you fly inverted.

The orientation of any air trap should make it easy to purge all the air when filling. Flying inverted has nothing to do with it as the fuel pickup is always in the center of the air trap.
