I agree, not too small, not too big, it was my idea from first day, though it looks larger than my initial imagination. Well, maybe good idea to be able to have a mold of this F-4, but it needs to be flown as there are 100 questions need to be answered such as if the angle of attach is correct, before even thinking to have a second one :-)),

In London it is not too cold in general, but in winter when it is windy, you feel cold, Typically London winter is 4-9° centigrade (about 40-50 Fahrenheit)

Sorry for being too late on this thread, you know that I was very busy lately.

Fantastic! at last you did what you were dreaming of for such a long time and the way it looks right now,
for sure it will be a great flyer! I suggest that you buy a heavy anchor for the windy days to keep the model on the ground!! I think Dave can help you find a good one!

I trust you all doing well and safe in four corner of the world,

Having some chats with different friends around me I decided to take their advise and make the F-4 project as a "Competition Object". So I searched and I found my favourite colour scheme in Palm Springs Air museum. I contacted to the museum and they kindly supported me for documentation and sending me more than enough photos etc.

I thought I would be a good practice and off course more challenge, but I think it worth it, below some photos:

After a long time I'm back to work shop. I did two quotes of primer (1k) and almost sand them off. Then started to make & add some details. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll start panel lines,

I just logged in to Rc Scale Builders, yes, beautiful building. I think he is a head of me :-)),

I don't have any plan to make a kit, to complex & needs huge effort to make a High Quality kit, Still I need to wait and find any possible error on design, hop not much ;-)),

Little progress but not much, as I was dealing with other things, Including looking for a new F3A model. I'm very keen to join 2021 F3A in USA, It will be in beautiful site: The International Aeromodeling Center (IAC) is located in Muncie, Indiana https: www.modelaircraft.org/about-ama/visit-ama/about-international-aeromodeling-center-iac

My car including a set of wings of ​​​my F3A model stolen, so little busy to think, search & approach to get a new model for 2021.

Back in F-4, I added more detail and used over 35 meters of panel lines only for Fuselage, and did primer on top to shape the lines. I'm waiting for panel line delivery to work on wing.

This is for now, I might need to hold the project for 2 weeks to sort out the F3A model, as I'm keen by end of Lockdown (2nd of December) start F3A practice,

Nice to hear about your decision for taking part in that contest in the States and I wish you good luck. At the same time sorry to hear about your car being stolen, though I believe the wings were more important for you than the car itself !
Nice job on the F-4 , I am sure it will look fantastic when finished with all those panel lines and details which I am sure will be added.

Hello guys,

I finally got some time for little progress,

Wings and elevator panel lines finished and I managed to cut landing gear doors, which was little challenging, but everything went well. Followed by primer,

It was my first practice to make panel lines, so I was too worry and applied many layers of primers. So I ended to add about 275 grams of weight not sue if it is too much for a model in this size!!!!!,

Merry Christmas & wish you all the best in 2021,

Little progress and Landing Gears are now finished, though I need to paint them white,

On main landing gear I needed to little grind the low part of the leg to be fit.

Nose leg, I wanted to have the option to extend the leg on take of as real one have, so I needed to use 20mm Aluminium rods as piston I used is a 15mm piston, taken out from an old C36 Behotec.

Once airplane finished & everything loaded, I might need to play with springs tensions and strength to make them work, trough try and error

Hi Again,

It was my first experience to make a mold so made little mistake:

I used the build up balsa canopy as plug, and used normal primer to cover it. But I mad a mistake: I used a chemical release agent on top of plug, but the chemical reales agent has acetone and it washed the primer and melted into primer. So, when I applied gelcoat followed glass and epoxy etc, they eventually almost sticked together.

Luckily, as plug was made of 1.5mm balsa, I managed to remove them gently and sanding made the mold ready.

So, I made two Canopy, one will be filled in completely to become a plug for clear canopy to be make by vacuum. And second one will be a frame on top of clear canopy, photos as below:
