It's alive!

Still need to connect the lights and get the sound system in, which will go in the back in a couple of crates. With the canvass top back on you won't see it but we'll know the crates were 3D printed with real wood.

Pretty much the whole truck was 3D printed, except for stuff like axles, electronics and the crew.

I'm still looking for a talented builder interested in building the Diamond T wrecker.

And Paco, Martin was kind enough to send all the stl files for the one ton trailer so now I just need to order some filament.

Again. Pah co chu puk built this for me, and did an excellent job. I can't wait to see video of yours running, Paco, and if you need any help getting there just holler. I believe you have all the stuff except for sound, and as you just saw you don't need sounds to get motion.

And with your talent I would jump on that in a minute if it weren't for that river that lies between us and sends postage rates in to the astronomical Zone. The part that trips me out is that for me to send a package to Windsor, it first has to go to Chicago. Something about customs.

I sent you an email with a video of how I was going to lay everything out, did you see that? Still have to do lights and sound and put the canvas top on the back. I think I'm going to try and build a frame and do a canvas top over the cab as well. It will be Uncharted Territory for me so either way it should be interesting.

I did see it, thanks. I'm back in the mountains now, happy to be out of the city, and catching up all the stuff that got loose while I was away.

It was very satisfying to see that baby rolling, thanks for posting the movie. It was like watching a friend's kid graduate. I still have to put the guts in mine, and my driveshaft extension needs re engineering. I hope I can get it to perform well enough to be a parade float. That's all I ask of her. I have an idea about the cab cover, I will work on it and let you know how it goes.

That is cool Greg! The crane set up is clever, keep posting progress pictures, that is a cool model you are building.

Yes it does look vary cool, and if that $685 is accurate it's not bad, given the details I saw, like pulleys and belts on the engine. I wonder if that tow cable is functional? What ever happened with the winch i sent you, Greg? Were you able to make heads or tails of it?

So here's the final video, I hope y'all enjoyed the project, and if anyone in the U.S. wants to build one get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

That looks and sounds so cool! The canvas cover looks good! Very nice.

As for value, There are only two of these in north america and I won't sell mine, so they are priceless.

Default Diamond T Progress

Finally got the first one moving under its own power. The wrecker version has been delayed while I look into making the crane functional...

This ones is going to a new owner tomorrow, I'll post pictures if I ever see the finished result.
Mines a little further behind because I've since redesigned the rear axle assembly to be more like the real thing, with a single leaf spring between the two axles instead of individual ones (like the 6x6 WPL). It will use the JJRC axles and the 2 speed gearbox, so it should be a bit smoother and have more grunt.
The CCKW is a touch too small for the 2 speed unit, but you can upgrade the rear axles (but not the front) to the JJRC ones if you wanted to add diffs - probably not so important on the long wheel base CCKW's, but I've noticed the short wheelbase ones do struggle a bit to turn tightly.

Wow, you are upgrading the detail more than I have.

The goal with my CCKW is to get it running, then get the sound system working, then film it driving on my scale roads. After that it can adorn a shelf and only come out for tank movie cameos.

I can't help it, I'm an engineer!

The ultimate goal is a functional Diamond T 980 that can tow a Sherman around on a 45ton trailer, via an intermediate step of a White 666 that can tow my armoured CAT D7 around on a 19ton trailer. I already have the transfer box and motor/gearbox for the 980, it should be a bit of a beast when its done
