The one picture is a little deceiving as the strap of the engine looks like the end of the pipe. It’s just an optical illusion, thinking that the strap is the inside pipe.

Maybe measure the amperage the JP controller is outputting during retraction. Also with the Xicoy how do the gear react with the plane upside down or will they work with a little help?

The orientation of any air trap should make it easy to purge all the air when filling. Flying inverted has nothing to do with it as the fuel pickup is always in the center of the air trap.

My T-1 has pulled 9 Gs but routinely pulls over 8...

My T-1 has pulled 9 Gs but routinely pulls over 8 Gs with no signs of stress. I don't think I fly it excessively hard but not gentle with it either.

Is it an airframe whistle or an engine whistle? If it's an engine whistle (usually heard at higher throttle) it may be too far from the pipe.
